Development Centre

The Prosecution Development Centre is tasked with methodological and legal development in various criminal fields and for accumulating knowledge within the authority’s areas of responsibility.

What is the role of the Prosecution Development Centre?

One of the main tasks of the Prosecution Development Centre is to gather knowledge of importance to the day-to-day work of prosecutors. The Prosecution Development Centre can disseminate knowledge, prepare guidelines and ensure that cases are brought before the Supreme Court.

The Prosecution Development Centre conducts thematic and planned supervision in specific operational and subject areas within the framework of the Swedish Prosecution Authority’s supervisory remit.

The Prosecution Development Centre also deals with reviews of prosecutorial decisions.

The Prosecution Development Centre has 30 employees based at three locations: Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö.

The day-to-day work at each office is led by a Director of Public Prosecution. Case officers at the Prosecution Development Centre are public prosecutors. Each office also employs a number of administrative officers.
